Graham MacKay is an aspiring landscape photographer based in Glasgow, Scotland. He grew up in the north of Scotland in the small village of Golspie in Sutherland. Having grown up on the North Sea coast and with a house beside the beach, it was inevitable that he would develop a love for the outdoors.

Although always a Highlander at heart, his schooling and studies took him south to Glasgow, finally settling as a Consultant Surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The combination of science and craft which led him to a career in surgery are the same aspects which attracted him to the art of photography.

As his interest in photography has turned to obsession, he now takes any excuse to go exploring the coasts, islands and hills of Scotland. While he is often drawn back to the Highlands, and in particular the West coast, he does occasionally venture further afield.

His aim in photographing the places is to try to capture some of the atmosphere and character of the landscape. He was delighted this year to be shortlisted for the 4 seasons category of the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards and to have had images published in both Outdoor Photography magazine and on the BBC website.
